Who this policy covers

This policy explains how Uncommon Engine, operated from Singapore, collects and handles personal data on this site, in line with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).

What we collect

Email address, if you subscribe to updates, sign in with a magic link, or sign in to Workspace with Google. We do not collect your name, phone number, or payment details anywhere on this site. Calculator inputs (price, cost, budget, and similar fields) are processed in your browser to compute the result on screen and are not sent to our servers. If you submit the feedback or data-tip form, we collect the message you write, the page you sent it from, and an email address only if you choose to give one for a reply. If you use the search feature, we log the search term and how many results it returned, so we can see what readers are actually looking for. Your IP address is used briefly, in memory only, to stop a single visitor from flooding the feedback or search forms, and is never stored or linked to anything you submit. If you accept the cookie banner, we also collect standard usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type) through Google Analytics.

Analytics, only with your consent

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use it. The analytics script does not load, and no analytics cookie is set, until you click Accept on the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you click Decline, no analytics runs at all. You can change your choice at any time using "Cookie preferences" in the footer. We do not run advertising cookies or track you across other sites.

Why we collect it

Your email is used only for the purpose you gave it for: sending the updates you subscribed to, or sending your sign-in link. Analytics data, if you accept it, is used only to understand which pages and tools are useful so we can improve them. We do not sell or rent your email, or your analytics data, to anyone.

Who else sees it

Subscription emails are sent and stored through Resend, our email provider, solely to manage the mailing list. Sign-in emails (magic link and Workspace Google sign-in) are handled by Supabase, our database and authentication provider. Feedback messages and search terms are also stored in Supabase, for us to review and improve the site. If you accept analytics cookies, usage data is processed by Google Analytics under Google’s own privacy terms. None of these processors are used for any other purpose.

How long we keep it

We keep your email for as long as you remain subscribed or hold an account, and delete it within a reasonable period after you unsubscribe or ask us to.

Your rights under PDPA

You can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent and have it deleted, at any time. To do any of these, use the contact address on the About page. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
